China Pearl, a banquet hall and dim sum restaurant, is reopening in Boston’s Chinatown this winter, The Business Journals reports.
According to Boston.com, the Tyler Street establishment closed temporarily in February 2020 just before lockdown during the COVID-19 pandemic. The owners of the restaurant, the Moy family and a few friends, wanted to use the time to renovate the space.
“With a restaurant as old as China Pearl, this renovation was a long time coming, but because we were operating successfully and hosting so many weddings and celebrations, there wasn’t a great time to do it before COVID-19,” Moy wrote in an email to Boston.com. “The opportunity to renovate was a small silver lining of the pandemic for us.”
Located in the heart of Chinatown, China Pearl was a popular space for events like wedding celebrations or political meetings.
It is unclear if the restaurant will reopen at the end of this year or in the beginning of the new year.
