13-year-old Vietnamese American accepted to over 100 colleges

Sunny Nguyen has been accepted to over 100 universities in the United States at just 13 years old.

According to KTVU, Nguyen, who is from San Jose, California, received acceptances from prestigious schools like the University of California, Berkeley and the University of California, San Diego.

VN Express reports that Nguyen was homeschooled by his parents. He thanked them in a post on his website.

“I’ve been homeschooled for almost my entire life. I feel incredibly fortunate to have my parents’ unwavering support throughout the process. They not only supported my education but also taught me various subjects, fostering my growth and ensuring that I had access to a well-rounded and challenging curriculum,” he wrote.

Nguyen told KTVU that his parents suggested that he apply to college, and he agreed.

“To our surprise, people just welcomed him like crazy, like letters kept flying into our home about admission and admittance and scholarships,” Tommy Nguyen, Sunny’s father told KTVU.

The young teenager told KTVU that he is excited for the next chapter in his life.
